2005-Present - Vice President of Business Development, JCG - Currently oversees the plan and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy for JCG. Identifies, evaluates and pursues prospects for new market opportunities. Establishes new strategic partnerships, and alliances. Follows up on all partnership activity including the tracking, documentation and status reporting of all business development. Establishes and implements appropriate business development strategies to support corporate strategies. Interacts with existing corporate contacts, facilitates communication, keeps track of milestones and identifies opportunities for enhancing these relationships. Responsible for the preparation of presentation and marketing materials for customer contacts, professional meetings, seminars and conferences.
1997-2005 - Manager, Real Estate and Right of Way - Alliant Energy Corporation - Managed Real Estate and Right of Way Department for two utilities and various non-regulated businesses including a railroad and real estate investment company. Was responsible for all real estate and utility right of way transactions, state regulatory agency approval of electric and gas transmission lines, surveying functions, joint facilities, lease management, and all land related governmental permitting (DNR, Corps of Engineers, Cities, Counties, etc.). Designed and developed new business initiatives, effectively marketed such programs, negotiated business terms and contracts, and implemented new programs. Was responsible for real estate and right of way staff including four managers, thirty professional and hourly/technical personnel, and contractor support. Managed department budget, goals and performance measurement. Accumulated over 6 million dollars annually in revenue for the corporation.
1990-1997 - Manager, Corporate Real Estate - IES Industries, Inc. - Managed department responsible for acquisition, disposition, and management of real estate and utility right of way, non-regulated business unit real estate support, Iowa Utility Board approval of electric and gas transmission lines, fiber optics, joint facilities, lease management, Iowa DOT/County and railroad permits. Responsible for hiring and development of staff of nine professional plus consultants, departmental budget, goals and performance measurement.
1983-1990 - Emergency Planning Coordinator - Iowa Electric Light and Power Company - Managed nuclear emergency preparedness program for the Duane Arnold Energy Center designed to evacuate over 100,000 residents to four counties. Interfaced with division and plant management and local, state and federal government officials and school districts. Responsible for emergency facilities, training, procedures, drills and exercises, emergency planning staff and consultants, with an annual budge of over 1 million dollars.
1976-1983 - Safety Director - Iowa Electric Light and Power Company - Directed corporate accident prevention program in electric, gas and generation departments and railroad for over 1700 employees. Managed staff and budget. Interfaced with corporate management and government officials on safety issues. Worked closely with union leadership and work rules. Directed OSHA compliance, environmental programs, and pre-employment medical program. Conducted crew observations and accident investigations.
1974-1976 - Safety Supervisor - Iowa Electric Light and Power Company - Implemented accident prevention program in the Central Region of the Company. Performed crew inspection and accident investigations. Conducted accident prevention training. Interfaced with regional and corporate management on safety.
